Why Our Jewelry Prices Are Increasing — and Why We’re Standing by Sterling Silver

If you’ve been following along for a while, you may have noticed that the cost of sterling silver has risen significantly over the past couple of years. That increase affects every part of the jewelry-making process — from raw materials to findings, chains, and settings — and it’s something many independent jewelers are navigating right now.

We wanted to take a moment to explain what’s happening, how it affects our work, and why we’re choosing to move forward the way we are.

Why the Price of Silver Has Increased

The price of silver has climbed dramatically over the last two years due to a combination of factors. Increased global demand, supply constraints, inflation, and silver’s growing use in technology and renewable energy have all played a role. Unlike many other materials, silver is a finite resource, and its value reflects both its beauty and its utility.

For small, independent jewelers, this means the cost of sheet silver, wire, bezel, chain, and findings has risen across the board — often multiple times in a single year.

A Choice Many Jewelers Are Making — and One We’re Not

In response to these rising costs, many jewelers are shifting toward more affordable metals like brass, copper, or mixed materials. Those choices make sense for some businesses, and we completely respect that path.

For us, however, that’s not the direction we want to go.

Sterling silver has always been at the heart of our work. We love it for its durability, longevity, and timeless beauty. It wears well, lasts for generations, and feels substantial in the hand. It’s also a material we trust — one that aligns with the level of craftsmanship and care we want every piece to reflect.

Switching to lower-cost metals would mean changing the very foundation of what we make, and that’s not a compromise we’re willing to make.

Choosing Quality

We recognize that the cost of silver has increased tremendously, and we’ve spent a lot of time deciding how to respond. In the end, the answer was clear: we want to maintain the quality and standards that have always defined our jewelry.

That means:

• Continuing to use sterling and fine silver

• Continuing to make durable, well-constructed pieces

• Continuing to work thoughtfully and intentionally, not quickly or cheaply

Maintaining that standard does come at a higher cost — and that brings us to the part we want to be very transparent about.

Our Prices Will Be Increasing

Yes, our prices will be increasing.

This isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly, and it isn’t about chasing trends or maximizing profit. It’s about sustainability — for our materials, our process, and our small business as a whole. Raising prices allows us to continue making jewelry the right way, without cutting corners or lowering standards.

We believe that handmade jewelry should be made to last, both physically and ethically. We’re choosing to lean into quality, craftsmanship, and integrity — even when that choice is harder.

Prices have more than doubled since I purchased this batch of sterling silver wire in late September of 2025. How high will it go? Will it ever come down in price?

We also want to be honest about what comes next. At some point, we plan to revisit our material choices and evaluate how things are going. If the higher cost of sterling silver makes it difficult for our business to remain sustainable — or if customers aren’t willing or able to pay these new prices — we may need to reconsider our approach and explore other materials at that point. That’s not our preference, but it’s part of being realistic and responsive as a small business. For now, our focus remains on maintaining the quality and standards that define our work, and we’ll reassess as needed.

Thank You for Supporting Handmade Work

If you’ve purchased from us before, supported us at markets, shared our work, or simply followed along — thank you. Your support allows us to keep doing what we love, using materials we believe in, and creating jewelry we’re proud to put our name on.

We truly appreciate your understanding, and we’re grateful to have a community that values thoughtful, well-made work as much as we do.
